Anthony van Dyck

Anthony van Dyck (1599–1641) was a Flemish Baroque artist who became the leading court painter in England after success in Italy and the Spanish Netherlands. Trained under Peter Paul Rubens in Antwerp, van Dyck moved to London in 1632 as court painter to Charles I, who knighted him.
