Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele (1890–1918) was an Austrian Expressionist painter known for raw, intense self-portraiture and figure studies marked by contorted forms and psychologically charged line. A protégé of Gustav Klimt, he pursued psychological rather than decorative beauty, depicting human vulnerability and eroticism with unflinching directness.
