Hans Dahl

Hans Dahl (1849–1937) was a Norwegian painter trained at the Düsseldorf school and beloved for sun-drenched scenes of fjord life, brilliantly costumed peasant girls, and the cliffs of the Sognefjord. Kaiser Wilhelm II was a major patron, conferring a professorship in 1910 and visiting Dahl's villa at Balestrand for several summers in a row.
