Peter Paul Rubens

Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640) was a Flemish Baroque painter and diplomat, the most influential artist of the Flemish tradition. His dynamic, sensuous compositions referenced classical and Christian history, employing rich colour and movement to convey drama and energy. A master of allegorical and mythological subjects, Rubens established a prolific workshop in Antwerp that dominated European painting.
