Charles Joseph Frederick Soulacroix

Charles Joseph Frederick Soulacroix (1825–1899) was a French academic painter born in Montpellier who initially trained in sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts before medical circumstances (ophthalmia from marble dust) redirected him to painting around 1850. Winning Paris Salon recognition in 1849, Soulacroix perfected his signature subject: 18th-century costumed historical interiors rendered with ornamental precision. He decorated chapels in Notre Dame Cathedral (1863–1865) and produced narrative genre scenes of refined elegance that achieved considerable European market success.

Painted by hand. Not printed.

Trained oil painters

Every canvas is painted by hand by a trained oil artist — no prints, no machine finishing. Each piece carries real brushwork, real texture, real layers.

Museum-grade pigment matching

We mix each pigment against high-resolution museum references. The greens of Monet, the gold of Klimt, the blues of Van Gogh — matched, not approximated.

Layered, cured, built to last

Oil paint is built in layers and allowed to dry between them — the way the originals were made. The result is a canvas with depth, weight, and decades of life.
