Charles W. Hawthorne

Charles Webster Hawthorne (1872-1930) was an American portrait and genre painter who founded the Cape Cod School of Art in 1899. An influential teacher and muralist, he emphasized direct expression, colour tonality, and the illusion of light in figure painting.
