Daniel Hernández Morillo

Daniel Hernández Morillo (1856–1932) was a Peruvian painter and cultural administrator who spent most of his career in Paris, establishing himself as an academic master through rigorous technical study and institutional influence. Granted a government scholarship in 1872 after painting Death of Socrates, Hernández studied in Rome, achieving the gold medal at Paris's 1900 Exposition Universelle and the French Legion of Honour (1901).
