Eduard Magnus

Eduard Magnus (1799–1872) was a German Neoclassicism painter known for portraits of intellectual and cultural figures. Preeminent portrait painter in Berlin; painted Jenny Lind, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Prussian General Wrangel; member Academy 1837, professor 1844; transitioned from Nazarene to realistic style influenced by Ingres.
