Francis Hayman

Francis Hayman RA (1708–1776) was an English painter and illustrator who pioneered theatre decoration at London's Drury Lane before becoming a founding Royal Academy member and its first librarian (1770). Beginning his London career as a scene painter, Hayman advanced to portraits and conversation pieces while decorating Vauxhall Gardens supper boxes with large-scale scenes from contemporary novels and Shakespeare. Born in Exeter, Devon, he promoted English art through leadership in the St. Martin's Lane Academy and the Society of Artists. Died 1776 in Chiswick.

Painted by hand. Not printed.

Trained oil painters

Every canvas is painted by hand by a trained oil artist — no prints, no machine finishing. Each piece carries real brushwork, real texture, real layers.

Museum-grade pigment matching

We mix each pigment against high-resolution museum references. The greens of Monet, the gold of Klimt, the blues of Van Gogh — matched, not approximated.

Layered, cured, built to last

Oil paint is built in layers and allowed to dry between them — the way the originals were made. The result is a canvas with depth, weight, and decades of life.
