Francis Luis Mora

Francis Luis Mora (1874–1940) was a Uruguayan-born American figural painter born in Montevideo to a Catalan sculptor and French mother. Settling in New York, he achieved prominence for his depictions of American life, Spanish society, historical allegories, and murals, working across oils, watercolours, tempera, drawings, etchings, and monotypes. A celebrated instructor whose students included Georgia O'Keeffe, Mora won the Panama-Pacific International Exhibition gold medal (1915) and numerous prizes from.
