Gaston Bussiere

Gaston Bussière (1862–1928) was a French Symbolist painter and illustrator, a pupil of Cabanel and Puvis de Chavannes and a close associate of Gustave Moreau's circle. Best known for dramatic depictions of Wagnerian opera heroines, Norse legends, and Salomé subjects, he illustrated literary editions of Balzac, Théophile Gautier, Oscar Wilde, and Flaubert, blending academic draftsmanship with Art Nouveau atmosphere.
