George Hillyard Swinstead

George Hillyard Swinstead (1860-1926) was a British artist associated with the Arts and Crafts movement and the Suffolk School. Born in Chelsea, London, the son of art educator Charles Swinstead, he studied at the Royal Academy Schools. Elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1893 and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour in 1907, he excelled in landscapes and portraits, frequently painting scenes of Walberswick and coastal Suffolk.
