Gerard Chowne

Gerard Chowne (1875–1917) was a British Early Modern painter known for landscapes of Spain and France, naturalistic figure compositions. Born in India; studied Slade School 1893–1899; taught Liverpool University 1903–1908; founder Sandon Studios; joined Artists' Rifles 1914, commissioned 9th East Lancashire, served Salonika Force; died of wounds May 1917.
