French19th Century

James Tissot

James Tissot (1836–1902) was a French painter, illustrator, and caricaturist who depicted contemporary European high society with meticulous realism and fashionable elegance. A core figure of Japonisme, he collected Japanese kimonos and prints, and learned to create cloisonné enamel inspired by Far Eastern art. After settling in London in 1871, he achieved further success before dedicating later years to biblical scenes, exhibiting 80 Old Testament paintings in Paris in 1901. Master Canvas Art offers 8 hand-painted oil reproductions of James Tissot's work.

Our promise

Painted by hand. Not printed.

Trained oil painters

Every canvas is painted by hand by a trained oil artist — no prints, no machine finishing. Each piece carries real brushwork, real texture, real layers.

Museum-grade pigment matching

We mix each pigment against high-resolution museum references. The greens of Monet, the gold of Klimt, the blues of Van Gogh — matched, not approximated.

Layered, cured, built to last

Oil paint is built in layers and allowed to dry between them — the way the originals were made. The result is a canvas with depth, weight, and decades of life.
