Jan Adam Kruseman

Jan Adam Kruseman (1804–1862) was a Dutch Romantic painter and society portraitist known for over 500 penetrating portraits of nobility and bourgeoisie, rendered without idealization. Director of the Academy of Fine Arts at 26, he studied with David in Brussels and became a founding member of the artists' collective Arti et Amicitiae.
