Léon Joseph Florentin Bonnat (1833–1922) was a French Academic painter and Grand Officer of the Légion d'honneur, trained in Madrid under Madrazo. His portrait style drew from Spanish masters—Velázquez, Ribera, Titian—which placed him at the forefront of French painting in the 1850s.
