Pierre-Narcisse Guerin

Pierre-Narcisse Guérin (1774–1833) was a French Neoclassicism painter known for historical and mythological allegories, portraits. Pupil Jean-Baptiste Regnault; won grand prix 1796; major success 1799 'Marcus Sextus'; professor École des Beaux-Arts 1813; most sought-after teacher after David; taught Géricault, Delacroix, Scheffer; director French Academy Rome 1822–1829.
