Samuel John Carter

Samuel John Carter (1835–1892) was a British artist and illustrator renowned for precise paintings and drawings of animals, particularly dogs and cats. Working for the Illustrated London News from 1867–1889, he mastered animal anatomy and character. Father of archaeologist Howard Carter, he transmitted artistic excellence across generations.
