Sydney Mortimer Laurence (1865–1940) was an American Romantic landscape painter known for Mount McKinley, Alaskan wilderness, northern lights, Alaska Native subjects. First professionally trained artist to make Alaska home; moved 1904; most known for Mount McKinley paintings; depicted Alaskan steamships, totem poles, coves, cabins under northern lights.
