Antonio Parreiras

Antônio Diogo da Silva Parreiras (1860–1937) was a Brazilian painter, designer and illustrator of the Belle Époque. Born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Parreiras studied at the Academia Imperial de Belas Artes and under Georg Grimm before attending the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia under Filippo Carcano. Becoming Professor of landscape painting at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, he introduced plein-air methods to his students.
