Ary Scheffer

Ary Scheffer (1795–1858) was a Dutch-French Romantic painter, one of the pre-eminent painters active in Paris during the first half of the 19th century. Known for works based on literature—Dante, Goethe, Byron, Walter Scott—as well as religious subjects, he developed a distinctive 'frigidly classical' style that resisted contemporary Romantic excess. He completed over 500 portraits of composers, writers, nobility, and intellectuals. Master Canvas Art offers 7 hand-painted oil reproductions of Ary Scheffer's work.

Our promise

Painted by hand. Not printed.

Trained oil painters

Every canvas is painted by hand by a trained oil artist — no prints, no machine finishing. Each piece carries real brushwork, real texture, real layers.

Museum-grade pigment matching

We mix each pigment against high-resolution museum references. The greens of Monet, the gold of Klimt, the blues of Van Gogh — matched, not approximated.

Layered, cured, built to last

Oil paint is built in layers and allowed to dry between them — the way the originals were made. The result is a canvas with depth, weight, and decades of life.
