Emil Claus (1849–1924) was a Belgian Impressionism painter known for river landscapes, light studies on the Lys. Foremost Belgian Impressionist and luminist; founded Vie et Lumière society (1904); called 'sun painter' and 'painter of the Lys'; Thames series during WWI exile.
