Emil Rau

Emil Rau (1858–1937) was a German genre painter best known for romanticised scenes of rural Bavarian life. Born in Dresden and trained at the academies of Dresden and Munich under Ferdinand Pauwels and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger, he worked as an independent painter in Munich from 1883. His warmly-coloured scenes of villagers in traditional dress appeared regularly in the popular journal Gartenlaube and at the Munich Glaspalast exhibitions. Master Canvas Art offers 6 hand-painted oil reproductions of Emil Rau's work.

Our promise

Painted by hand. Not printed.

Trained oil painters

Every canvas is painted by hand by a trained oil artist — no prints, no machine finishing. Each piece carries real brushwork, real texture, real layers.

Museum-grade pigment matching

We mix each pigment against high-resolution museum references. The greens of Monet, the gold of Klimt, the blues of Van Gogh — matched, not approximated.

Layered, cured, built to last

Oil paint is built in layers and allowed to dry between them — the way the originals were made. The result is a canvas with depth, weight, and decades of life.
