Frederick Arthur Bridgman

Frederick Arthur Bridgman (1847–1928) was an American Orientalism painter known for North African and Oriental scenes, harem interiors, desert landscapes. Known as 'American Gérôme'; studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme; traveled North Africa 1872–1874 collecting ~300 sketches; exhibited 5 paintings at 1889 Paris Exposition; adopted naturalistic aesthetic with bright colors.
