Jan Brueghel the Elder

Jan Brueghel the Elder (1568–1625) was a Flemish painter nicknamed Velvet, Flower and Paradise Brueghel for his mastery of fabric rendering, flower still lifes and paradise landscapes. Son of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, he collaborated frequently with Peter Paul Rubens. A major innovator, he invented flower garland and gallery paintings.
