Lilla Cabot Perry

Lilla Cabot Perry (1848–1933) was an American Impressionist painter and dedicated advocate for modern French art. A descendant of Boston's Cabot and Lowell families, she studied privately before encountering Claude Monet's work at age 41. Between 1889 and 1909, she spent nine summers at Giverny where Monet informally advised her on Impressionist technique. She also lived in Japan for eight years, painting over 80 works and incorporating Japanese artistic traditions.
